I Think We Have A Winner with Jordan Samuel Skin’s Plié Treatment Cleanser (Review)

|

I love a good cleanser, I can happily say that I have tried a variety of different ones and that I am a self confessed cleanser junkie. Whilst I love many of the cleansers that I currently own, none have caught me by surprise as much as the Jordan Samuel Skin Plié Treatment Cleanser. I have tried and tested many different cleansers and there is just something special about this particular cleanser by Jordan Samuel himself. I love the simple formula, how it manages to just melt off my make-up so effortlessly, the consistency, the price point, its easy to use and hygienic packaging and the fact it is so travel friendly. Seriously, there are so many great things about this cleanser and for me, its really hard to spot any flaws in its performance and effectiveness.

Jordan Samuel himself (the brains behind this remarkable cleanser) was a ballet dancer for the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle. Jordan’s passion for skincare started with ballet as he found that the stage lights, heavy stage makeup and the constant perspiration from training was taking a toll on his skin. Finding inspiration from ballerinas, noting their skincare rituals and combining his knowledge on skin from being a leading aesthetician and working with the Kate Sommerville Skincare line, Jordan opened his own skincare clinic in Seattle. Soon after, his signature ‘Jordan Samuel Facial’ was created and his own simple and naturally derived skincare range followed. Jordan often posts some great YouTube videos highlighting different aspects of skincare and some fantastic tips on how to get the best out of skin and I find his videos a great resource of information. He attitude towards skincare and skincare routines is to keep it simple and he takes a lot from what he has learnt in the ballet. He believes that the foundation of good skin is keeping a simple, consistent routine that isn’t complicated or extravagant

This simplicity and less is more approach is shown in the formulation of Jordan Samuel Skin’s Plié Treatment Cleanser, as the cleanser itself does not contain any fancy high tech science but instead some basic plant extracts that have proven to be beneficial for the skin. It is this simple formulation of the Plié Cleanser which I think makes it a beautiful cleanser and perhaps one of the reasons why I love it so much, as it is perfect and gentle enough for my sensitive skin. It does everything I need it to and it just works.

What Is It?
The Jordan Samuel Skin Plié Treatment Cleanser is basically a gel to oil cleanser that starts off with a gel like consistency which then turns into a beautiful balmy oil.

What Does It Do?

This cleanser uses a blend of nourishing plant oils such as grape seed oil, jojoba oil and olive oil to both remove make-up and also to clean and nourish the face. It works as a wonderful first cleanser in the evening as well as a beautiful second or morning cleanser due to its consistency. The Jordan Samuel Skin Plié Treatment Cleanser also contains ingredients such as willow bark, apple and sugar cane extracts which also helps to gently exfoliate the skin leaving the skin looking fresh, glowing and ready to take on the rest of a skincare routine.

Ingredients:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Glycerin, Water, Sucrose Laurate, Propanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Rhizome/Root Extract, Anthemis Noblis (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Citrus Fruit Extract Blend, Simmodsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylhyroxamic Acid, Capryl Glycol

My Thoughts:
If you can’t already tell, I absolutely love this cleanser. I loved it from the first moment I used it and it is now right up there as one of my favourite cleansers of all time. This cleanser is in no way flashy, boasting the latest and greatest peptide technology, nor is it filled with exotic botanical oils. It is quite simply a stripped back cleanser that does everything a cleanser should do – clean the face, clean it well whilst maintaining the skin’s natural oils.

What I love about this cleanser is that it removes every single bit of my makeup and removes it incredibly well and so effortlessly. I don’t have to work too hard to get off that liquid eyeliner as the gel to oil consistency acts to remove it so easily. It doesn’t irritate my eyes, doesn’t strip, dry or irritate my skin and overall it works as such an amazing makeup remover/first cleanse. At the same time this cleanser works to nourish and hydrate the skin due to Jordan’s use of plants oils and extracts. I would say it works just as well or even better than Clinique’s infamous Take The Day Off Balm which is generally my makeup remover of choice if I am wearing slightly more makeup than normal. I find that it feels much nicer than Clinique on the skin and its light scent makes it such a joy to use in my skincare routine. I find the ingredients in this cleanser, such as Aloe, Green Tea Extract, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil and Grape seed Oil to does bit more for the skin in terms of nourishing when compared to Clinique’s Take The Day Off Balm.

Jordan Samuel Skin’s Plié Treatment Cleanser love doesn’t just stop at makeup removal though, what I also adore about this cleanser is the fact it is so travel friendly. The plastic tube packaging, the unique consistency and its light natural scent makes it an absolute dream to travel with as I can quite simply pop this in my bag and not be worried about it spilling, breaking or creating any form of mess.  Since it does have that wonderful gel to oil texture, it makes a wonderful makeup remover as well as a general cleanser for the morning as the product does emulsify quite nicely and doesn’t require too much effort with a flannel to be completely removed. Its oil texture isn’t too heavy either making it great for both colder climates and humid ones. Due to all the above reasons and the fact it suits most situations, the Plié cleanser makes a perfect skincare companion when travelling as it really is the only cleanser you would really need to take with you. It does everything a cleanser should!

The Plié Treatment Cleanser does contain Willow Bark extract, Sugarcane extract and Apple fruit extract which will act to give the skin a slightly deeper clean as these ingredients are supposed to gently exfoliate the skin and give the skin a clean, fresh glow after cleansing. I find that after I use this cleanser my skin most definitely feels much cleaner, refreshed and nourished. It looks and feels soft and I feel like every speck of make-up, dirt or grime from the events of the day have been successfully been removed from my face. My skin feels extremely clean but not that rubbery, squeaky clean that you might get from other cleansers often found in a tube (foaming cleansers I am looking at you!), its a clean yet hydrated feeling. I think that it is the perfect foundation for my next skincare steps as I find it really does throughly remove any unwanted debris on the skin’s surface.

As mentioned earlier, the Jordan Samuel Skin Plié Treatment Cleanser comes in a tube packaging which is hygienic and travel friendly as a squeeze of the tube will provide you with a dollop of cleanser in a clear transparent gel form. Its consistency and texture does remind me slightly of OSKIA’s Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I like to apply this on dry skin to make the most of makeup removal and you will notice that this cleanser does glide over the skin with ease to clean and nourish the skin. Once you start to rub gel like consistency into the dry skin, you will start to notice that the cleanser starts to become more of a lightweight oil balm and makeup loosens and separates from the skin with ease. This cleanser does have a light floral/soapy scent to it which I don’t mind at all. Those who are sensitive to smells might not like the scent but please note there are no synthetic fragrances in this cleanser. I would say that the Plié cleanser would suit most skin types but those with really sensitive skin should try this before purchasing. Oh and before I forget, the price point of this is also fantastic, at only USD$24 per tube, it is a really affordable and attainable cleanser.

Whilst I have only been using this cleanser for around 2 weeks, I have really fallen in love with it and plan to purchase a few more as my backups. It takes the cake as the best first cleanser I have ever used and acts as a fantastic second/morning cleanser as well. The Jordan Samuel Skin Plié Cleanser is hands down one of my favourite purchases for this month and I absolutely love the way it performs. The other amazing thing about this cleanser is the price, it retails for a small USD$24 for a 100ml tube, making it a fantastic purchase to suit most budgets.

Repurchase YAY or NAY?
I will most definitely be repurchasing this again and plan on keeping this in my stash forever. It really has blown me away in terms of its performance, price point and ease of use and is currently one of my favourite cleansers to remove makeup. I have taken this travelling with me and it is the perfect travel cleanser due to its consistency and packaging. Jordan Samuel has really created a winner with this cleanser and I really do absolutely adore using this. If you are reading this Jordan, a huge THANK YOU for creating this masterpiece!

The Plié Treatment Cleanser can be purchased directly from the Jordan Samuel Skin website for USD$24 and he does ship to most places in the world. Currently his cleanser is on sale for $20 for the 100ml tube!

Have you used Jordan Samuel Skin’s Plié Treatment Cleanser before? What did you think of it? Have you used anything else from his range? What were your thoughts on Etiole and Hydrate? I would love to know!
