It is a bit belated, but it IS that time of month again where I share my empties. I have been doing a fair amount of travel lately (I am currently away at the moment!) which has allowed me to use up some samples that I had stashed or some travel sized products which I have been saving for flights or time away from home. A lot of my empties this month are smaller trial sized products or products that are just so great for travelling and have the main focus of hydration. Read on to find out more in what I have used up in the past 4-6 weeks.Read More
I will admit, I find it really hard to make it to skincare empties as I do change up my routine quite often. There is however much satisfaction when I do make it to the end of a product though and for me it means that I can use or open up something new in my routine. These days I have learnt to not be so light handed with products and to not be afraid to use some things a little bit more generously/heavy handedly as if I went on the rate that I was at previously, I don't think I would have ever finished anything! In saying that however, this is my empties for this month, its not many but at least they are empty!Read More
I am relatively new in the world of acid toning and to be honest, it was something that I put off due to the fact that the thought of putting an acid on my face scared me. I just didn't think my skin would react so well to it. After some reading and research I discovered that acid or exfoliation toning was not as scary as it sounded - in fact regular chemical exfoliation of the skin is generally highly recommended to create a brighter, radiant and even complexion. It is also important to note that we can always run the risk of over exfoliating as well, so it is quite important to find that balance of when and how to use an acid toner.
Acid toning is the use of chemical acids such as alpha hydroxy acid or beta hydroxy acids to remove some of the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to reveal a brighter, more youthful complexion and also to aid in the penetration of other active serums or moisturisers that you may use after cleansing. Blogger, Hidden Harmony World has summarised the different types of acids and their uses quite well in this blog post here, if you want to know a little bit more about them. Whilst acid toning will give fantastic results for most people, it is also extremely important to be careful not to over exfoliate the skin as it can cause all sorts of problems such as increased sensitivity, redness, dryness, tightness and acne, as blogger Skin Ritual Diary has summarised quite well in her blog post here. For those with sensitive skin, it also extremely important to be careful and mindful what products you use. If the product is too strong you could potentially cause even more sensitivity, redness and some pain. As scary as I have made it sound, acid toning has made my skin much healthier and it does allow my other products to work far more effectively on my skin. Recently, I have been using three different types of chemical exfoliators.

I am flying out this evening to go to Vietnam - one of my favourite countries to visit (I am slightly biased though, as that is where my family heritage is from and it helps that I am able to speak the language) and I thought I would share some of the items that I have decided to pack with me. Travelling is something that I love to do and over the years I have been fortunate enough to visit many countries and experience very different cultures to my own. My biggest problems that I find when I travel (these are very small problems mind you) are:
- I never have enough stomach space to eat everything I want to eat
- Finding that balance of relaxing and wanting to do things
- What to pack with me - especially in terms of skincare
I thought I would do a section on Travel Skincare on the blog to share some of the things I will be packing, keeping in mind the country and climate I am entering and hopefully it might help or guide others on their travels.
DESTINATON: Ho Chi Minh City, VIETNAM
WEATHER: Currently in monsoon season there, so it will be hot, humid and pouring down with rain.
SKINCARE NEEDS: Something cooling, lightweight, fast absorbing and non oily or greasy.
LENGTH OF STAY: 10 Days
