Royal Rituals with Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea Hydrating Masque (Review)

|

Ranavat Botanics is a relatively new skincare line that recently made its debut at Indie Beauty Expo in New York. The brand’s founder, Michelle Ranavat, is passionate about sourcing unique ingredients and blending these ingredients together to create a range of luxurious masks and mists. Her formulations are based on recipes that are over 5000 years old and each formulation is supported by the art of Indian Ayurvedic medicine. Michelle unearths some fantastic ingredients in her concoctions, sourcing botanicals such as neem, ginseng and Ashwagandha.

The main inspiration behind the Ranavat Botanics line are the Indian Royals who Michelle says ‘were obsessed with living eternally and spent their days being pampered’.  She goes on to say, “the Indian Royals highly prioritised self-care and had a sound understanding of what they put on their bodies would have an impact on their longevity and quality of life”. This way of living influenced the Ranavat Botanics main belief in finding one’s ‘Royal Ritual’, a ritual that encourages moments of self-care and pure indulgence.

Consisting of 6 products (with plans to expand later on), Ranavat Botanics has debuted with 3 masks and 3 tonics – products that demand moments of relaxation and pampering – a welcome relief for many. Michelle herself is a huge fan of masks, saying “I personally love masks. I think they are so luxurious, and I love the idea of customisation and freshness.” A little while ago, I had the pleasure of being sent the Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea Masque and Jasmine Tonique with a little message encouraging me to go on a journey of self-care to discover my own royal ritual. Since receiving these little treats, I have been happily using the mask almost every week now and have found that it does take me on a journey of self-indulgence and also leaves my skin looking nourished, hydrated and oh so very calm.

***Please note that this item was kindly sent to me from Ranavat Botanics with no expectation of a review. I love writing about products that I generally enjoy using and this is no exception. It really is such a treat! All opinions on this product are my own honest opinions – I like keeping it that way.

What Is It:

The Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea is a powdered mask that contains botanicals rich in antioxidants. The mask becomes a thick paste and is activated when mixed with a liquid of your choice.

What Does It Do:

The Kiss of Royal Tea mask intends to hydrate and soothe the complexion. It contains New Zealand Manuka Honey, rose petals and gooseberry which not only helps to nourish and exfoliate the complexion and help it give a beautiful lit from within glow.

Ingredients:

Kaolinite (Rose Clay), Rhassoul Clay, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Petal Powder*, New Zealand Manuka Honey Powder (honey and maltodextrin), Withania Somnifera (Indian Ginseng) Powder*, Emblica Officinalis (Amla) Fruit Powder*, Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis Linn (Hibiscus) Petal Powder*, Rubia Cordifolia (Manjistha), Powder*, Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Root Powder*

*Certified Organic

My Thoughts:

I’ve been using the Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea mask almost every week since I have received it now and I have to say, this mask is a real treat for the skin. It smells a little bit like caramel tea on its own and when with mixed with the Ranavat Botanics Jasmine Tonique, it smells like a jasmine garden, my bathroom smells heavenly. I find that my skin responds quite well to this mask as it leaves my skin feeling hydrated, smoother and glowing.

The Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea mask is a terracotta coloured powdered mask that is made up from rose clay, manuka honey and botanicals such rose, Indian Ginseng and hibiscus. When mixed with a liquid (I do highly suggest one of the Ranavat Toniques as it really does elevate the experience), the mask becomes a luxurious thick paste which is applied on the face and neck. The instructions say to leave on the Kiss of Royal Tea mask on for 10-15 minutes but I normally like to leave this on for about 20 minutes.

The first thing you will notice when mixing this mask is the scent, on its own it smells quite lovely but as mentioned before the Jasmine Tonique really does take the sensory experience to the next level. When applied on to the skin, the Kiss of Royal Tea mask has an immediate cooling effect which gives my skin an instant calming and soothing sensation. I find that the mask will generally dry within 10-15 minutes and if you do spritz a mist over the top, it does reactivate the mask. However, it is when I wash this face mask off that I start to see the difference in my skin.

I find that when the Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea mask is removed from my face, it reveals a plump, smooth and hydrated complexion. My feels soothed, calm and any redness or blotchiness has improved immensely. I also notice that when I wash off the Kiss of Royal Tea mask, my skin has a slight glow to it. Whilst this mask isn’t a dedicated mask for improving congestion or impurities, I do find it works incredibly well to lift the complexion and give it a subtle glow. The Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea is technically a mask that works to hydrate and calm the skin and it does this incredibly well. I love the way this mask leaves my complexion as my skin really does feel incredibly smooth, hydrated, rejuvenated and brighter. I also find that my overall skin tone is more even and any redness is reduced. Its unique blend of New Zealand Manuka Honey, rose petals and other antioxidant-rich botanicals work so well to keep the skin feeling calm and nourished.

The only issue that some may have with this mask is the fact it is a powdered mask and can sometimes be a little bit messy or troublesome to mix – a bowl, spoon and brush are generally required to apply. For some, this could be too much effort as many prefer to just open the jar and apply the mask straight away. I personally wouldn’t use this when I am in a rush or when I am feeling extra lazy as it does require a few extra steps than what I normally used to. However, this mask is all about decadence and indulgence and I don’t mind using this when I am taking the time to relax as it is a beautiful step to add to a skincare ritual and it really is a joy to use. This is a very small issue and really comes down to personal preference in what is preferred when masking.

If I had to compare the Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea mask to other masks, I would say that it does remind me of the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask, whereby the mask is quite gentle and soothing. However I do find that this gives the skin more of a glow. I find that this is no way as drying as other powdered masks I have used in the past, nor is it very harsh. The Kiss of Royal Tea has got to be one of the most gentle masks I have used. It’s non irritating, drying or uncomfortable, it’s been a fantasic mask my sensitive skin.

The Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea is housed in a beautiful miron glass jar which not only helps to preserve the contents but also adds a luxe aesthetic to the product. I love the heavy feeling of miron glass and it feels that little bit more luxurious when on display in the bathroom or vanity. The Kiss of Royal Tea mask does come in powdered form and a beautiful little wooden spoon comes with this beauty. In terms of pricing, this is USD$65 for 80g which lasts quite some time. I’ve been using this for a few months now and feel like I’ve barely made a dent in this. I do think that this will last quite some time as for me powdered masks have more longevity than masks that are ready to apply.

Overall the Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea Masque is a beautiful mask with a unique blend of ingredients that helps to rejuvenate, soothe and plump the complexion – giving a lift and that lit from within glow. A royal ritual fit for a king or queen.

Repurchase YAY or NAY:

I quite enjoyed using the Ranavat Botanics Kiss of Royal Tea Masque as for a clay mask, this was so very hydrating, soothing and cooling. I felt that unlike other clay masks I have used before, it really worked well to soothe and calm the skin down, and that cooling sensation on its initial application was at first unexpected but very welcomed. It gives the skin a subtle radiance and works so well to add some extra nourishment to sensitised or a complexion that needs a little TLC. Overall this mask is quite unique in its blend of ingredients and is definitely a mask which I would consider repurchasing as it so unlike any other clay-based mask I have ever used.

The Ranavat Botanics comes in an 80g miron glass jar which retails for USD$65 and can be purchased from the Ranavat Botanics website
